MetaCyc Enzyme: indolin-2-one monooxygenase

Gene: Bx3 Accession Number: G-7862 (MetaCyc)

Synonyms: cyp71c2

Species: Zea mays

Summary:
The maize Bx3 gene encodes a cytochrome P-450-dependent monooxygenase [Glawischnig97] with indolin-2-one monooxygenase activity (BX3). The activity of this protein was tested using microsomal fractions isolated from transgenic yeast strains expressing maize Bx3 [Frey97]. This protein was also shown to catalyze the conversion of benzoxazin-3-one into HBOA [Glawischnig99]. To date this protein has not been purified to homogeneity.

Molecular Weight of Polypeptide: 59.7 kD (from nucleotide sequence), 59.7 kD (experimental) [Frey95 ]

Enzymatic reaction of: indolin-2-one monooxygenase

EC Number: 1.14.13.138

indolin-2-one + NAD(P)H + oxygen + H+ <=> 3-hydroxyindolin-2-one + NAD(P)+ + H2O

The reaction direction shown, that is, A + B ↔ C + D versus C + D ↔ A + B, is in accordance with the direction in which it was curated.

The reaction is physiologically favored in the direction shown.

In Pathways: superpathway of benzoxazinoid glucosides biosynthesis , DIBOA-glucoside biosynthesis
