The subunit structure of this enzyme has not been reported.

The recombinant enzyme containing a 6xHisTag N-terminal fusion was expressed in Escherichia coli. Its apparent molecular mass was determined by SDS-PAGE [MartensUzunova08].

The reaction direction shown, that is, A + B ↔ C + D versus C + D ↔ A + B, is in accordance with the direction of enzyme catalysis.

Summary:
The enzyme was shown to use either NADPH or NADH, although NADPH was more efficient, as shown by the Km values below. The enzyme was not active with the following substrates: α-D-xylopyranose, α-L-rhamnopyranose, D-fructose, DL-glyceraldehyde, DL-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, dihydroxyacetone and dihydroxyacetone phosphate [MartensUzunova08].
