Summary:
A cDNA clone was isolated from apple Malus domestica fruit peel tissue. The cDNA was recombinantly expressed in E.coli and the molecular weight of the protein was determined at 66 kDa [Pechous04]. The protein was shown to catalyze the conversion of (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate almost exclusively into (E,E)-α-farnesene [Pechous04].
