MetaCyc Enzyme: NMN nucleosidase

Species: Nicotiana tabacum

Summary:
The enzyme activity of NMN nucleosidase (synonym NMN glycohydrolase - NMN-Ghase) has been detected in roots [Wagner86b] and induced callus cultures of Nicotiana tabacum [Wagner86a]. The partially purified NMN-Ghase from tobacco catalyzed the formation of nicotinamide through hydrolysis of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) with high efficiency [Wagner86].

Enzymatic reaction of: NMN nucleosidase

Synonyms: NMN glycohydrolase

EC Number: 3.2.2.14

β-nicotinamide D-ribonucleotide + H2O <=> D-ribofuranose 5-phosphate + nicotinamide + H+

The reaction direction shown, that is, A + B ↔ C + D versus C + D ↔ A + B, is in accordance with the direction in which it was curated.

The reaction is physiologically favored in the direction shown.
