Summary:
The Arabidopsis protein encoded by AtAO1 is a copper-containing amine oxidase. Cell extracts of AtAO1-transgenic insect cells incubated with putrescine showed significant activity which was reduced by pre-treatment with semi-carbazide, a specific and irreversible inhibitor of copper amine oxidases. Incubation with spermidine resulted in a lower activity.
