EC Number: 184.108.40.206
Supersedes EC number: 220.127.116.11
Reaction Locations: periplasmic space (sensu Gram-negative Bacteria)
The reaction direction shown, that is, A + B ↔ C + D versus C + D ↔ A + B, is in accordance with the direction in which it was curated.
Mass balance status: Balance undetermined; a substrate lacks a chemical formula
Enzyme Commission Primary Name: peptidyl-dipeptidase Dcp
Enzyme Commission Synonyms: dipeptidyl carboxypeptidase (Dcp), dipeptidyl carboxypeptidase
This reaction is the hydrolysis of a peptide bond in an amino-blocked small peptide.
Enzyme Commission Summary:
This enzyme catalyzes hydrolysis of unblocked, C-terminal dipeptides from oligopeptides, with broad specificity. Does not hydrolyse bonds in which P1' is Pro, or both P1 and P1' are Gly.
Known from Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium. A zinc metallopeptidase in peptidase family M3 (thimet oligopeptidase family). Ac-Ala-|-Ala-Ala is a good test substrate [Conlin95]. Inhibited by captopril, as is peptidyl-dipeptidase A. Formerly EC 18.104.22.168, and included in EC 22.214.171.124, peptidyl-dipeptidase A.
