Summary:
GlrK is the sensor kinase protein of the GlrKR two-component signal transduction system. The GlrKR two-component system strongly upregulates transcription of the glmY sRNA when cells enter the stationary growth phase but the specific stimuli remains undefined [Reichenbach09].

Purified GlrK can both self-phosphorylate and transphosphorylate its cognate response regulator, GlrR, in vitro [Yamamoto05].
