Summary:
ldrB is one of a set of four Long Direct Repeats (LDRs), one of which has been shown to code for the toxin portion of a toxin-antitoxin pair.

ldrA, ldrB and ldrC are clustered together as tandem repeats, with ldrD elsewhere on the genome. LdrD is toxic when overexpressed and appears to be the toxin member of a toxin-antitoxin pair [Kawano02]. Deletions of ldrABC, ldrD and ldrABCD have no effect under laboratory conditions [Kawano02].

Four LDR-like regions, three near ldrD, one near ldrABC, may represent recombination spots for LDRs [Kawano02a].
