Summary:
D-mannonate dehydratase catalyzes the final reaction of the glucuronate branch of the hexuronate degradation pathway [Portalier80].

UxuA is monomeric in solution. Crystal structures of the enzyme alone and in complex with D-mannonate have been solved [Qiu12].

The enzyme is inducible by glucuronate and fructuronate [RobertBaudouy73]. Expression of uxuA may be repressed by OxyR [Zheng01].

Inactivation of the enzyme by p-chloromercuribenzoate was reported by [RobertBaudouy73], but no inhibition was seen by [Dreyer87].

The enzyme was first partially purified from E. coli W [Smiley60].
