Summary:
HrpA has sequence similarity to DEAH-box RNA helicases [Moriya95]. HrpA is involved in the post-transcriptional processing of the daa operon mRNA, which encodes proteins involved in fimbrial biogenesis of an enteropathogenic E. coli strain. Activity requires the predicted nucleotide triphosphate binding and hydrolysis functions [Koo04]. The ATPase activity of His-tagged partially purified HrpA has been measured [Jain06a].

HrpA is not essential for growth [Moriya95].
